While most of us think of exercise as 'sport', scientific evidence shows it is everyday activities like stair climbing that are most closely associated with improved health. Classified as a 'vigorous' form of exercise, stair climbing burns more calories per minute than jogging and just two minutes extra stair climbing a day is enough to stop average middle age weight gain. With many tall faculty buildings, the HKU campus provides an ideal environment to incorporate stair climbing into the daily lifestyle, helping staff and students on campus to be more active and health.
